The University of Lausanne (UNIL) carries out cutting-edge research in laboratories equipped with the latest technologies and staffed by internationally renowned teams – with one Nobel Prize winner in 2017.

Humanities and life sciences
Two entities at the University of Lausanne are involved in sports: UNIL’s Institute of Sports Science (ISSUL) is the only specialized sports education and research institute in French-speaking Switzerland and has become a leading international center for excellence in sports science; and UNIL’s sports research group brings together 120 members from UNIL’s seven departments who are active in 12 sports-related research fields, which are Olympism, governance, anti-doping, law, fitness, the biology of exercise, appropriate physical activity, medicine, tourism, gender, media and history.
