HESAV - School of Health Sciences - Vaud (HESAV)

The School of Health Sciences – Vaud (HESAV) is the university of applied sciences dedicated to the health professions. It offers HES-SO Bachelors courses in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Midwifery and Medical Radiology Techniques. It also offers a wide range of continuing education and postgraduate courses, and works in partnership with the University of Lausanne (UNIL) to offer masters degrees in health sciences and nursing.

Every year, HESAV conducts more than fifty scientific projects on major health issues: ageing well, mental health, community health, health technologies, inter-professional collaboration, health inequalities, chronic disease management, etc. As a university of applied sciences, it creates major synergies between research, training and service provision. As such, it conducts numerous applied research projects with health institutions and clinical settings.

Physical activity and sport are one of the key areas of research and teaching at HESAV. As a key tool for promoting health and sustainable health, movement is approached through the benefits of physical activity on health, the social representations associated with sport, the body and health, care and rehabilitation, for all audiences and all stages of life.

As part of the Engineering & Health platform, HESAV works closely with the Vaud School of Engineering and Management (HEIG-VD) on joint projects in the fields of health, engineering and management. A large proportion of the projects carried out concern movement and physical activity.

HESAV has expertise in the field of sport and physical activity in the broadest sense.

HESAV has specific expertise in combining sport and health. This includes prevention, treatment and the return to training for people of all ages and all conditions (good health, disability, illness, pregnancy, etc.).

HESAV also has an incubator platform for projects linking sport and health: TEAMPULSE.
