HEIG-VD and its startups offer know-how, services and products in sports-related technologies, supported by the Transversal Health, Engineering & Economics (HE&E) Group. HEIG-VD is also involved in rehabilitation for disabled athletes and in the communication, distribution and broadcasting of sports events in general (IOT, security: INUIT project).

The HEIG-VD and its start-ups currently offer skills, services and products in the field of technologies and management for sport, supported and promoted by the HEIG-VD’s Health, Engineering & Economics (HE&E) Transversal Group.
The HEIG-VD’s activities bring together expertise in many areas related to sport, such as measuring and improving sporting ability and performance, rehabilitation and many other aspects. Improving motivation to engage in physical activity is also one of the topics covered. HEIG-VD is also very active in developing and optimising the broadcasting of sporting events.

With more than 2,000 students, the Haute École d’Ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud (HEIG-VD) is the largest partner institution of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO). It offers nine HES Bachelor’s courses and participates in HES-SO Master’s courses in the fields of engineering and business administration. HEIG-VD also offers postgraduate courses (CAS, DAS), particularly in the fields of health and sport.
Through its applied research and development (Ra&D) activities, HEIG-VD actively contributes to the creation of new skills and new products, in close collaboration with the economic and industrial fabric. Its ability to deal with cross-disciplinary issues makes it a partner of choice for the professional world.
The HEIG-VD has also set up a support structure called ‘La Fabrik’, to support the most innovative project leaders by providing them with the help and tools they need to become successful start-ups.
The HEIG-VD’s expertise in the field of sport is characterised by its interdisciplinary nature. They cover most areas of engineering – mechanical engineering, electronics (micro and nano), digital information technology – as well as business administration, management and training.
A number of research institutes have developed recognised technologies for analysing and improving the performance of top-level athletes, while at the same time making the televising of competitions more attractive. These innovations apply to a wide range of sports, including golf, motorcycling, archery and football. Several start-ups have emerged from these projects.
Thanks to its ability to integrate different technologies, HEIG-VD is a strategic partner for the development of innovative products, from design to marketing.
